Description générale
Ban on placing certain single-use plastic products on the market, in line with Directive (EU) 2019/904 on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment. The ban applies to lightweight plastic carrier bags, cotton bud sticks (except for medical purposes), cutlery, plates, straws (except for medical purposes), beverage stirrers, balloon sticks, as well as food and beverage containers made of expanded polystyrene. For other single-use plastic products covered by the Directive, measures for consumption reduction, labelling requirements and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations apply.

Mécanisme administratif
The enforcement of the ban on placing certain single-use plastic products on the market is carried out by the Market Inspection. The Environmental Protection Agency, the Eco Fund, and the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development conduct educational campaigns. Funds collected from the fee for plastic bags that are still permitted for use may be used exclusively for addressing the management of this type of waste and for implementing environmental campaigns.
