General description
Restriction on exports of COVID 19 rapid antigen test kits
National legal basis
Biosecurity (Human Biosecurity Emergency) (Human Coronavirus with Pandemic Potential) (COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests) Determination 2022.

The Determination is made under subsection 477(1) of the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth).
Administrative mechanism
The Determination prohibits the exports of COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits unless an exception under section 9 of the Determination applies. Section 9 outlines exceptions for both non-commercial and commercial purposes.

This is a temporary measure to ensure that COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits are reasonably and appropriately available to individuals who require a test, as part of Australia’s public health response to controlling the spread of COVID-19.
