National legal basis
The importation of plastic explosives is Prohibited under provisions of the Customs Act 1901; the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956) and the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) (Criminal Code).
Administrative mechanism
Importation is lawful if the Commonwealth Attorney-General has issued a permit under the PI Regulations and; if applicable; an authorisation under the provisions of the Criminal Code.
